If your taking too long for a handseal for example shukkaku's pike while trying to kill a boar, it will just run off and stop attacking. Same goes for sand shower if you don't have the lower CDs for it. Also I was chasing a boar for about 5 minutes, hitting it with sand shurikens, it would just keep running away like a deer would, then finally it would attack.
